What do you guys run to TV outlets in a single family residential job? I have heard of running a coax and cat5 so that the customer has data access at that point for certain cable companies pay per views. Do you loop the coax or do a separate home run back to cable/satellite hook up? I am new to the residential market.

Also, with many satellites, you need (2) if you are using a DVR, unless you wanna watch what you are recording. And you need the phone line for pay per view

Just learned last month that not all satellite systems (Direct TV) need to have two coax HRs anymore.

We'll run one coax. If the customer needs additional, and we do suggest that, we try to run one coax (or two), one network and one phone.

Seperate homeruns on all. Like the cable, satellite, phone guys say they like.

all the sat installs ive seen lately need a bunch of cables from the dish to a multiswitch, and one from the switch to the receiver. sat needs a phone line at each tv. Should run another cat5 for ethernet (but pay attention to where you run it to -not going to do you any good on the outside of the house at the telco NID) especially with all the bluray players with built in netflix streaming now.

Start with 102 pages here....

As of late - 2 RG-6, and 2 Cat-5E in at least every room, in a location suitable for a TV... (Run from above to accomadate flat screen later) 2 Cat-5E at bed sides, any place a desk or phone may end up... Yes - all home runs... Since I'm sick of SATV and changing standards there - an 1 1/2" EMT roof jack with southern exposure....
