TVSS any good ??

How does one find out if a TVSS is any good. I understand these things are a one shot deal, once they grab a transient surge it will probably pop the MOV's inside. I took a small cube one out of a 120/240 single phase panel and was wondering how in the world I would tell if it is any good anymore. By the way this is the first generation type of TVSS, the ones without the handy dandy LED indicator. I put the Fluke on it and it read open all the way around. ??

They make tester for TVSS units. A DVM will not tell you anything.
