TWHP rated 267 volts AC

Why would a through the wall heat pump be rated at 267 volts ac.

My only guess is that it is for a 277 volt system and allows for voltage drop.

Anyone know the real answer?

My guess is that you're correct, just as 120v motors are rated at 115v, etc.

I would think it would be rated for 230V, if indeed this is for residential use. If it is truly 267V rated, I would be concerned that the performance and efficiency when operated at 240V will be less then expected.

If it is for a 277V, it may not be deisgned for operation on a 120/240V system. Consult manufacturer.
