Our facility uses induction heaters with 100A disconnects. We are considering installing Hubble twist lock connectors on six of the control cabinets to enable using a portable unit when a system fails. The service disconnects for 5 units are less than 50', and have line of sight. 3 are Square D safety switches and 3 are 3-pole panel mounted breakers.
Section 665-63 appears to be the section that covers the disconnect and does not mention 50', only line of sight or "....capable of being locked in the open position."
Can we utilize the existing service disconnects as the 'Disconnecting Means'?
