There is a detached garage with an existing small 20 or 30a pull-out disconnect on the outside of the garage that provides the power feed to the garage for the garage door, lights and a gfci oulet. They also have a 3-way light switch wired at two locations: inside the house and inside the garage for the back door lights that remains active even if the disconnect is off--spliced straight thru. Is it a violation of NEC 225.30 install a new subpanel WITHOUT deleting the other disconnect and running everything out of a new subpanel under only one disconnect? I think the main issue is with the switch for the outside being always on and available (which seems fine for me for it would provide for the outside light in any case).
