Two machines on same feed

Hello all, I am working in an industrial plant in Chicago and had a question:
We currently have a 30A fused feed from a panel in an electrical room that feeds out of the room to a machine about 70 feet away. We would like to add another machine next to it. Each of the machines are run only during short (1-5 minute) periods possibly once or twice a day, and we would not need to run both at the same time.
Is it acceptable to use the same feed in this way:
Add a junction box next to the machines with a 3 position selector switch and two contactors (mach.1 - off - mach. 2) to select between the two machines?
It would switch the 480VAC power to fused disconnect motor controls mounted on each machine.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Since the two cannot operate simultaneously you could use the single circuit to feed both machines via the selector switch. Are both machines designed to operate on a 30 amp circuit?

If your customer has self control, and it won't do damage, I would think you can just use a J-box.

I don't say any reason for the contactors to switch the 480 volt power. Just interlock the selector switch with the e-stop circuits of the two machines so only one of the machines can run at a time. That is all the code would require.
