two motors, one switch

Hey fellow electrical brotherin,

Here is my situation:

I have two motors both are 220volt, 20 amp.
They are on separate 220 volt, 20 amp circuit breakers.
They need to stay on separate breakers, becuase one is a shunt trip breaker.
I need to turn them on with one switch.

What is the best way to accomplish this task.

two motore

install a set of no contacts to first starter with two wires from them to the second starters # 3 contact then to nc overloads contact 's on the second starter r. make sure to check your overload contacts are wired correct . trip each starters overload to see if staters drop out,

you can use a single switch and two relays.. the relays will have to be rated alot higher so as not burn up during a fault. there is alot more info needed to be safe here...can I ask what the motors operate? and what does the process involve?

Thank you Minuteman, I think that is the best way to go. That is the way I started to wire it.

Thank you Infinity, I do not think they do, one is for a chiller (swamp cooler)very low amperage and one is for a small exhaust hood, low amperage.

Hey Puckman,

No they do not, but one is on a shunt trip breaker off of an ansul system.
maybe I don't need the shunt trip with your way.

Thank you, RM
You might need to look into this deeper. If one is for exhaust air and one is for makeup air, you're sometimes required to bring ON the exhaust air (even if it's not already on) when the ansul discharges.
