Is it allowable per code to run two separate panelboard feeders in the same conduit? I have a case where the electrician is asking if they can run two separate feeder wires from the same distribution panel in one conduit. What they would do is provide two breakers in the distribution panel for each panelboard. Provide one conduit out of the distribution board and run it to a location within the building. Near where they would located the two panelboards, they would provide a pullbox and then split the feeders at the pullbox to each panelboard. I believe it's allowable but the wires would need to be upsizes for derating purposes. I was looking for a code article that addresses this but can't seem to find one. Could someone please point me in the direction? Thanks.

What the electrician proposes is not prohibited by the NEC.

However as soon as there are more than 3 current carrying conductors in a raceway you may have to apply derating to the conductors which could require the use of larger conductors for the feeders.

The code doesn't work that way. In general, if it doesn't say you can't you can. There is a restriction on service conductors being in the same raceway as other conductors, but no restriction on multiple feeder and/or branch circuit conductors being in a common conduit.

You won't find one. You will find that if you do it this way you may have to make ampacity adjustments for the number of current carrying conductors in the same raceway though.
