Two Services with One Backup Generator?

Hello,
I'm working on a residential project that has two services. One for the main house and one for a detached garage. The owner has requested a single backup generator for both services. Is this possible per the code? I assume the simplest design would be a dedicated transfer switch for each service and the generator would have two breakers; one for each transfer switch/service.

Any input is appreciated.

Yes, this configuration is possible. As you noted, a transfer switch for each service is a simple way to accomplish this. Make sure that each transfer switch switches the neutral and that the generator is set-up as a separately derived system. I am not sure if these are manual or automatic transfer switches, but if it is an ATS, you will also need start/stop from each ATS over to the generator.
