I came accross this old post: http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?t=77125 regarding Type AC cable and its temperature rating when in contact for small portions of thermal insulation. Now that we are a few code cycles wiser than when this was posted, has the issue been cleared up?
If for only a small portion of the run can 310.15(A)(2) be used and not have the 75Deg rating/90Degree rating be reduced to the 60 degree column?

I looked through that old thread and still came to the same conclusion, you determine the ampacity according to 310.15 which contains the 10'/10% exception so it's applicable. I'm unsure if anything has changed to make this more clear.

I agreed with you as I went through the post and then I was on the fence, and then I went back to your position by the end of the post. I am glad that that conclusion has held up to the test of time.
