Q-commercial building is being designed with a (1)hour rated acoustical ceiling. Any "special" rating on a lay-in "troffer" fixture required? Any special installation requirements?

Brad, yes there are special requirements. The architect should specify the type of structural design, and then the assembly would have to comply with this.

It's not necessarily the fixture, but the way it is installed.

These assemblies are UL designs, and here is one example for a "Floor-Ceiling Design of Concrete and Steel Joists". (Notice items 11 and 12)
