Is EMT or any other type raceways allowed to run on the bottom of floor joists? How about MC Cable? Also, where can I find answers to these questions in the NEC?

Don't know about Michigan in particular, but I thought Romex had to be on running boards if on the bottom of joists. Too many people using the Romex as a closet rod!Michigan doesn't allow romex on the bottom of joists, maybe check local rule\
But when you run the NM though holes in the joists, it is better supported and works even better as a closet rod. Supporting it at 4.5' on the bottom doesn't work well as a closet rod.Don't know about Michigan in particular, but I thought Romex had to be on running boards if on the bottom of joists. Your in pipeland, EMT makes a even better closet rod. what would be scary is a heavily loaded pipe &being stingy with the straps. But when you run the NM though holes in the joists, it is better supported and works even better as a closet rod. The requirement for EMT in dwellings is a about 100 miles away from where I am. Has to be over 6 units in a multifamily dwelling before our local code requires EMT.Your in pipeland, EMT makes a even better closet rod. what would be scary is a heavily loaded pipe &being stingy with the straps.![]()
Other than the outside part of that, I don't believe the code cares.@Davisteam Was your question answered?
If not, try to be more specific in the details around your question.
What is below said floor joists? Basement? Crawlspace? Second floor?
Are we in a dwelling? Under a deck outside? Is it accessible to hand stuff off of like @PaulMmn mentioned - cause that happens a lot actually
