Under Art. 340.10,1,3. it states that UF cable can be installed "in wet, dry or corrosive locations under the recognized wiring methods of this code". I have installed UF cable on a wooden boat dock to carry my lighting branch circuit from piling to piling. My AHJ is claiming that the code book does not say UF cable can be installed under the deck of a boat dock. The cable is running through the girder joists and also stapled with SS staples. Am i reading this wrong? I believe the cable is installed per a recognized method and the cable is rated for wet locations and sunlight.

If this is not correct, can someone please tell me where I can find the code that does not allow it?

thank you

How is the UF installed when you come from under the deck to the lighting ?

I feel like I'm overlooking something, but in reviewing Art 555 and 340 , I find no problem.
Hopefully we will get additional input.

I would ask for a code reference as art. 555.13 clearly allows any wiring method of chapter 3 that is listed for wet location. Uf is one such method and if it is protected from damage then there should be no issue.
