Got a new home is south Miami.
GC poured the footers and I asked him (as we did not have a contract yet) who did the footer steel bonding?
The Electrical inspector is not requiring it anymore as they only want 2 ground rods and cold water, was his reply.
Something about dissimilar metals and creating a difference of potential in the ground?
Any thoughts as this is the first time I have heard this?
Thanks,
Mike

If there is steel in the footing that meets the NEC requirements for a concrete encased electrode and there are no local amendments in my opinion you have an NEC violation.

I agree, the inspector can not just tell you that the CEE is not needed. If you have footing steel that qualifies as a grouding electrode it MUST be used.
