Came back from vacation to a real treat at my house last week, a nasty storm came through and my house took a real bad hit, all my heating and cooling controls got fried, biggest problem was the heat was stuck on. Basement was at about 114 degrees.... just got my internet connection back, everything was fried from my house to the pole.

Yeah, been working on it for the past week, what a pain....

I was surprised only one GFCI got fried, that one fed a transformer for outdoor landscape lights.

Yeah, I just ordered $3000 worth of heating and cooling controls and equipment. see how much I get reimbursed.

I dont know, the cable connections were all cooked, and the phone cover was across the yard.

That is why I installed a TVSS at the Electrical Service, The Phone Service & The Cable TV Service.

I have not had an issue in 5 years since I installed these devices.

That made me think of something.....when I was a kid I remember my mom and dads house had like 5 maybe 6 spires on top and a huge ground running along one outside wall to a ground rod. Havent seen that around much lately or maybe I just havent payed attention. Is there some new way of accomplishing this or is it obsolete?:-?
