NEC 300.2 B does not permit the use of Liquidtite in the plenum of an air handling unit that is used for environmental air. UL 1995 paragrah 18.2 appears to permit it's use if it has a flame spread rating of not more than 25 and a smoke developed rating of not more than 50. We currently have a situation where factory wired and UL listed air handlers have Liquidtite going to the motors and cord wired lighting fixtures. There are other air handlers on the job that do not have factory wired motors. I would assume the UL listing for these air handlers did not include this wiring.

Two questions.

1. Is the intent of UL1995 actually allow sealtite or does this just allow required monitoring and control components to be plastic?

2. Is the electrical contractor required to field wire the motors in the other
air handlers with greenfield and not with sealtite.
