While searching "508A" for a different question I came across some questions about door interlocks. Unless the equipment falls under the guidelines in Annex C of NFPA 79, sections 66 and 67 of UL 508A wouldn't apply, correct?

It really only applies if you plan on having a panel listed. Otherwise follow the NEC/NFPA guidelines. At least where I am at
UL is not required. What was your question about door interlocks?

If the listed industrial control panel is intended to be used on an industrial machine (as defined in NFPA79), you have to follow the extra rules found in sections 66 and 67.

Annex C Examples of Industrial Machines Covered
by NFPA 79
This annex is not a part of the requirements of this NFPA document
but is included for informational purposes only
.

The definitions section covers what an industrial machine is.

3.3.55 Industrial Machinery (Machine). A power-driven machine
(or a group of machines working together in a coordinated
manner), not portable by hand while working, that is
used to process material by cutting; forming; pressure; electrical,
thermal, or optical techniques; lamination; or a combination
of these processes. Machine can include associated equipment
used to transfer material or tooling, including fixtures,
to assemble/disassemble, to inspect or test, or to package.
[The associated electrical equipment, including the logic controller(
s) and associated software or logic together with the
machine actuators and sensors, are considered as part of the
industrial machine.

Right, so say a control panel for a dust collector or air compressor would not need a door interlock since they're not considered an industrial machine, correct? Same with anything else listed in sections 66 and 67?
