SB4.2 Exception No. 3 states that "Enclosure air conditionors or multimotor and combination load equipment that is cord and attachment plug conneced OR SUPPLIED FROM A BRANCH CIRCUIT PROTECTED AT 60A OR LESS is not required to have a short circuit current rating.

If I have process equipment, for example an industrial fluid filling machine like brake fluid or radiator fluid, and the main OCPD that is on the control panel is less than 60A, then I do not have to supply the SCCR rating for the machine? It does not need any further analysis than the main panel OCPD is less than 60A?

Generally speaking the main on a control panel is a feeder circuit and not a branch circuit so it would not qualify as a branch circuit regardless of the overcurrent protection device rating

So does that mean that the exception is totally useless, or that the branches after the feeder, within the equipment, do not need to be considered if the branches are below 60A. I read a Bussman white paper and they seem to think the exception only applies to refrigeration equipment but that is not how I read it.
