Re: UL Listed Raintight EMT Fittings

Bridgeport manufacturing has passed the UL Standard for trade sizes 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch EMT. They are going to be available soon.

Is this the same fitting and just a different listing, or is there a redesign?

I recieved an e-mail from esox39 (my brother who also frequents this site) that is the cut sheet for the new fitting. If you would like it e-mail me at moranelectric@comcast.net and I will forward it to you.

Re: UL Listed Raintight EMT Fittings

I haven't verified it, but my supplier tells me that Crouse-Hinds' steel compression fittings are UL listed raintight. They were not aware that the cast compression fittings by Arlington that they stock, are not UL listed raintight until I brought it to their attention (thanks to this site!). The cast Arlington's are listed raintight by the CSA in Canada. Is the rain different up north?

Re: UL Listed Raintight EMT Fittings

All of the past/prior fittings are marked as raintight because they are 'raintight' to the prior UL standard. UL's newer standard has made those fittings not compliant with the newer standard. As of about 5 weeks ago, when I spoke to the UL representative, Bridgeport was the only manufacturer that had their fittings pass the new standard, they told me that another manufacturer had failed the test, but did not say whose. The Bridgeport fittings have an additional plastic 'bushing' that will be installed with the fittings and this is how one can distinguish it from the 'older' style fittings.
In my opinion, now that one company has fittings that pass, the rest will soon follow.
Bridgeport's website has a cutsheet of the new fittings.
