I have been in contact with several manufactures of custom gas fire rings, and each has told me they don?t get or have UL Listings for this type of item due to the nature of the application and each is custom made.
The ring in custom consist of a rolled ?? STD (0.840? OD) 304SS pipe 1 @5? and 1 @ 6? ID diameter circles. Approx 140 each 5/64 holes 3? on center in rolled pipe. Join sections in 6 places with same material. Supply and weld 1 each ?? 304SS threaded TEE to 6? circle. Drill 12 each 3/16? holes in rolled rings to allow gas to flow from 6? to 5? rolled ring.
I am contacting you as the local building inspectors and fire inspectors have never dealt with this type of item, they have no knowledge of whether or not it would require a UL Listing. They have contacted someone at the state level, who has indicated he believes it would require one but is not sure what, how or why. It is a typical case of everyone passing the buck as to cover their own rear end on giving the stamp of approval. I can say the local fire chief does not have any problem with this and has stated he would like to see it put in as it will be a great improvement to the property. This a display piece only.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
