We have an inspection dept. that decided that sealtight (LMFC) needs to be UL listed. I have 50 A/C units that will have to be rewired.

I am not looking forward to this of course. Any thoughts?

I am a bit confused on your post but look at NEC section 350.6 LFMC and associated fittings shall be listed.

Called my supply house and of the 3 companies that he carries none of them are listed. they do have LFNC that is listed.

The installed product is Anoconda (sp).

Since the 2002 Code cycle, all Chapter 3 raceways and their associated fittings have specifically been required to be listed.

Put a case of beer on ice and tell the guys they can have it when they are done. All electric material must be ul listed and your supply houses know better. My guess is you can buy the listed product at a different supply house for the same money.

Local supply house here stocks two sealtite (LFMC) conduits. A type EF and a type LA (3/4 EF @.78 3/4 LA @ 1.25). The LA shows a UL listing on the jacket, the EF does not. The LA has a copper bond strip, the EF does not.
Guess which one sells the most.

The NEC has required LFMC to be a listed product since the 1996 code. Only one of my local supply houses stock the listed product. When I asked a manufacturer about the non-listed stuff at a trade show, he said first, it is not a code violation to sell the product, the violation comes when it is installed, and second the contractors want it because its cheaper.

Thanks Augie, that what I found out, they don't stock the LA.
What use is a non listed product? Can the EF be used anytime?
