UL 698A 8.2.1(b) states that "Intrinsically safe field wiring terminals for field wiring connections shall not be of the pluggable type, unless part of the barrier."
However, I have seen intrinsically safe sensors rated for CIDI that only provide an M12 connection.
In this case, would an M12 Connection be considered a Field Wiring Terminal? Going off the the UL Standard, it seems that an M12 connection left for the installer to connect onsite would be considered a field wiring Terminal.
So are these sensor violating the standard? If so, how did they receive their FM Approval?
Thanks in Advance!
