I am trying to get an interpretation on the application of UL924 to specific components of an Emergency Lighting System. The question I have is:

Do the light fixtures (luminaires) connected to an emergency lighting power circuit (UPS, Battery, Generator, etc.) need to be UL924 listed devices, or can any regular UL listed light fixture (luminaire) be utilized?

I have read:
? NFPA 70 ? National Electric Code, Sections 410 ?Luminaires, and 700 / 701 ? Emergency Systems
? NFPA 101 ? Life Safety Code, Section 7.9 ? Emergency Lighting
? NFPA 110 ? Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, Section 1.1.3.2 (?This Standard does not cover the following: Emergency lighting unit equipment?)
? IBC Section 1006 ? Means of Egress Illumination
and have found them to be inconclusive on this question. I am reluctant to expend the funds to purchase a copy of UL924 to possibly find it may, or may not, provide conclusive guidance. (ref: http://ulstandardsinfonet.ul.com/scopes/0924.html)

Can anyone offer any insight regarding my question?
