Looking to find out what the best type of undercabinet lighting there is out on the market.

Which is the easiest to install?

Best type of 120 volt, direct wire to use.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Look at the Kichler Xenon.
It comes with a junction box for your feeds and whips that just plug in from end to end.
Very easy to install because they minimize the strain on your vertebrae.

I was leaning toward flouresent myself.

I've had a hard time locating direct wire, 120v flouresent fixtures.

In desperate times, I've brought them from Home Depot and Lowes and had nothing but problems with them.

Any recommendations?

I like the LV incandescent because it can dim. They push in to the track and have small torpedo bulbs. If they don't want dimming, then I am on the 120 fluorescent is the best choice bandwagon.

For line voltage I like the counter attack made by CSL lighting they come in Halogen or Xenon . Xenon runs much cooler than Halogen.

for Low volatge look at Sea Gull lighting Ambianace linear lighting . I have used both and found CSL lighting and sea Gull to be very good products. CSL lighting has fixtures that have a plug attachment that you can purchase pre made whips to connect more lights with out having to run more wirng

We used bookcase strip lights in our new custom home. Installed them above and below the cabinets along the front edge. The face of the cabinet hides them perfectly I love em!

I know OP said 120V, but I only use the Seagull Ambiance low voltage. Been using it for at least 6 years with zero problems and everyone has loved it. I haven't used anything else since I started using it. I have looked at other stuff but haven't found anything better.
