how should i determine approximate cable length in underground duct.
I have drawing it shows the length of duct between cable chamber A to B is 300 feet , it is just straight run.
so do i use 300 + 5% deviation = 315 feet for cable
is there other factors to be consider like cable tail length?
On my drawing it is said the total cable should be use is 500feet , this is way to much!!
How designers come up with these numbers. (they are not always right :/ )

There is enough money involved, I would measure it. Pull a tape measure first. Or, if you laid in PVC, count the number of sticks.

If was bidding I would carry the 500'

If I was pulling true tape or mule tape either way it's getting measured before I order conductors.

Kinda like when auto-correct changes "embarrassing" to "embracing". :)

If its underground, don't you have at least a 3' drop on each end? That would take up some of your 5%.

And you need some extra to make up terminations. Plus, the wire won't lay perfectly straight in the pipe, so that will take some extra slack.

I agree with everyone else that says measure it, from termination to termination.

But how much extra to add to the measured quantity?
