hello everybody. I couldnt manage to find useful knowledge on the internet. Pls tell me about the current carrying capacity of underground cables. İ mean
what does this capacity depends on? for example what about laying in conduit or duct(if they are different concepts) or direct burial and their effect on c.c.c? is there any generalisation of the comparison of overhead and underground cables c.c.c ? pls tell me a bit of this relation?
as far as i know the heat that is not dissipated will lower this value. But what about the details. Greetings to me dear friends...

i dont want to know about duct banks , i want to know general rules concerning c.c.c and comparison of overhead and underground cables c.c.c

ampacities??

ampacities??

if you are looking for ampacities of the cables dependant on installation methods and temperatures, etc. I would start with the IEEE brown book

You are going to confuse some of the members here, if you use the initials "c.c.c." for the phrase "current carrying capacity." Many of us will have seen that set of initials used for "current carrying conductor," in the context of article 310.15(B)(2).

If you are asking about the impact on a conductor's ampacity of putting it below dirt, then there are many factors that come into play. Under some circumstances, the ampacity values in table 310.16 can be used for underground installations (direct buried, in conduit, or in ductbank). Generally, that will be when you have calculated the required ampacity per article 220. In other circumstances, such as when you don't have a load calculation, but are basing a new design on previously measured load values, you have to either use the ampacity values in table B310.7 (if one of the tables or figures applies to your installation), or else have the ampacity values calculated by a licensed professional engineer.

power underground cables,

power underground cables,

there is a book called Rating of Electric Power Cables: Ampacity Computations for Transmission, Distribution, and Industrial Applications (Hardcover)
