Underground Conduit Sizes

Is there any code requirement or industry standard as to the minimum size of conduit underground? I've seen some offices do no smaller than 1-1/4"...

Think the smallest I've buried is 3/4.

There is no minimum requirement. There is an awful lot of 1/2" conduit installed underground.

Street lighting does it. Usually 2" conduits.

If you ever hope to reuse your underground conduit for what ever reason including damage it is a good idea to oversize.

Keri, this is one of those "only chance you'll get" decisions we all have to make at one time or another, at least when it's your job to do the deciding.

A few considreations would be, in no particular order: cost of difference, who pays that cost, difficulty of redoing it later, likelihood of future need, permanence of this install, stuff like that.

Since you asked the question, why did it come up?
