In a earth-movement situation, can you run "a 2 inch ridgid conduit, or a scheduled 80 ridgid conduit, or a ridgid conduit with slip joints, or do not use this application?

You could use any of these methods but without an expansion fitting it will move with the earth making it no better than schedule 40 PVC.

There are plenty of listings in the Index for Expansion Joints(fitting) in NFPA-70 -2011, PVC does have an explaination.

While it doesn't exactly mention PVC underground it does say where to install them otherwise, 352.44.

What is the application and cause of earth movement? Using rigid conduit and slip-joints (or any other method) only work as good as the design allows.
