Underground conduits for a hospital

What does everyone prefer to specify or use for underground conduits for a hospital. (These are feeders from emergency generators and a UPS).

517.30(C)(3) seems to rule out PVC.

Will EMT rust if direct burried?? Will it do any better if encased in concrete or sand?

Or should I specify Rigid or Intermediate metal conduit? Again, should it be direct burried, or encased in concrete or sand??

Yes, they have changed the wording. Schedule 80 PVC is even allowed if not encased.

Actually, it wasn't exactly clear (at least to me)if the 2002 code prohibited PVC for a feeder that fed patient area branch circuits.
