I am in the process of redoing my underground dog fence. My old one lasted a year with the cheap wire that came with the kit.

I am planning on fencing off about 5 acers. A lot of that property is part of a pasture with high tensile electric fence. I am curious if using high tensile wire around the perimeter of my already existing fence would work as a line for the dog fence? This wire is 12.5ga, bare galvanized wire.

The perimeter where the wire will be buried I am planning on using 12ga tracer wire.

Will the high tensile bare wire be fine around the existing pasture? Or will I need to run a strand of tracer wire along the existing pasture fence?
