Underground Feeder and Expansion Joints

I'm replacing the feeder to my garage which is 40' away. I'm putting feeder cable in PVC conduit, overkill I know, in a 24" deep trench. I was considering running another smaller PVC on top for Tel-Com pulls later. My question though is about thermal expansion. I know code is to put a theramal expander in the horizontal run every ~20' but I'm not sure what to do about the vertical legs into the house and garage. The expansion joins would be vertical which may compensate for ground heaving but what if the pvc tries to pull from the house/garage? Is flexible conduit appropriate?

Table 352.44 is the expansion table. Normally you see an expansion joint in the vertical run

There would be no need or requirement for an expansion fitting underground.
