An older house with an outbuilding (house built in the 20s) (outbuilding built in 1966) Has a 40 amp feeder consisting of H, H, N #8 copper UF direct buried. There is a panel in the outbuilding. It leaves the house in pipe and shows up in the outbuilding in pipe but I know it is DB because a backhoe hit it 30 years ago and I bought a underground splice kit and fixed it.
I didn't install it originally (I was only 13 at that time LOL) but was this ever legal??
I was just thinking that the outbuilding doesn't have any 240 volt loads AFAIK so I could convert a hot to an egc
