Planning to construct a building over underground direct buried 5 kV cable. Thinking of installing the cable (portion under the building)in a conduit.The conduit will be about 40' under the building. The rest of the installation remains direct buried.
Is de-rating required if we install the partial run in a conduit?

kal, assuming the cable is yours, I would have it located and trench in a conduit parallel to the cable and about 3 ft away from it. If it ever faulted, you would have a way to pull in new cable under the building. Be sure to plug the ends of the conduit, it will fill up with dirt. :D
