Recently worked on a solar project and combiner boxes were mounted on I beams and were made of fiberglass. I requested that sand or something be placed to protect the box and pipes entering from bottom. Elbows and pipes were twisting fiberglass enclosure and were cracking next to lock nuts. Some pipes were not getting unistrut clamps and and locknuts were tight on box. My Question is should the box be placed before or after any backkfill of material. The spec calls for 90 percent compaction?141019_042.jpg141019_030.jpg

THANKS EVERYONE!

In general this site is reserved for folks in the trade but an excavation contractor that cares about our work is such a refreshing change I think we will be glade to help.

I guess my question would be was the trench compacted before the conduits were placed in it?

Underground Question

The Picture is before the any compaction or backfill. Thanks for the reply and we also do some edison work and electrical with our A licence. I respect the Electricians view points there seems to be a difference between utility guys and electricians although both have great input to any work.

That's what you call piss poor work.

Conduits should have been secured in place prior to backfill. Box should not have been in place until backfill and compaction complete.
