Underground Temp Cable

I have to temp out an existing service. So I'm running from utility property line box to new box where I intercept existing incoming conductors. Going tyo need a few sets of #500. Can I use USE cable as direct bury? If not guess PVC I the way to go? Thanks

You can direct bury USE cable. You're going to need more than what I would consider a hand hole box to splice them, and maintain proper bending radius.

Anyone who has moved a service like this, I would be interested in learning how exactly this is accomplished... I've never seen rmc threaded once it's already in the ground, or with wire in it. Does one cut the existing service ~ 5 ft closer to the utility, then cut roughly five foot of conduit off to have working length with the existing conductors? Or is the whole thing repulled as one solid run? How big of a trench would this typically require for the above posters scenario

I've never done it either but I would do as you describe. Question is what happens when the temporary isn't needed anymore? Looks to me like the whole UG run will need to be replaced.

This is a good sized task and could be done a bunch of ways really.

If I was asked to do it, I would look at removing conductors first. Not only for possible reuse on load side, but I think it will make conduit work quicker and digging footprint smaller IMO.

I would hide the existing empty service conduits stubbed up in a appropriate vault.
