Hello.
A church member called mentioning they had their ct cabinet opened which is in the basement... there is some water damage ( rust ) in the cabinet.. the electrician on the job (the church is putting in solar panels) said it all had to be replaced back to the pole... (church member thinks he's looking to sell work).
Sight unseen ( I will go talk to the electrician and see what's up tomorrow ) I would expect ( correct me if I'm wrong) that ALL underground conduits get filled with water.... If things look too rotted I will probably agree with their electrician ??? but if the conductors look fine I might suggest to leave the service conductors and conduit... I'm not sure but I think it was installed in the 50's or 60's..
If it looks good or if a new service goes in, what would stop water from filling that conduit again and running into the cabinet ? Is there a filler that goes in ?? at the pole? or ct cab? or both?
A while back, I had a 1" pipe entry that was allowing water into a basement... it was suggested to install some type of marine filler... ( I didn't but reworked a damaged pipe and have not received a call back for water??)
What do you do to seal 3" or 4 " rigid coming into a basement from a pole??
Thank you
