I need to run initiation and power to a hot box location. I will be going under the existing building slab, outside to a 4" pad. Can I use sch 40 pvc for the underground and then stub up through slab and pad with rigid 3/4"? Basically, can I go from sch 40 pvc to rigid pipe and be code comlpiant?

Thank you for your time.

As long as you use a proper fitting between the two, yes. But you say you're going under an exisiting slab? Are you boring it, or breaking it up to trench?

What's initiation? Fire alarm? :-?

I am going to use a female connector(pvc) to a threadless connector(rigid). The slab in the mechanical room has been removed for now, they will re-pour it later. Yes, fire alarm Thanks again.

If it were me, I'd bend the rigid if there's any chance a heavy load would be pressed against the bend during a wire pull. PVC can get cut into by small wires or pull strings.
