Understanding Overload heaters

How do I tell the 'rating' of certain type of overload heaters that were ordered, tried looking up on the internet and look for markings on the heater itself. The only thing I havent done is call the manufacturer directly, which is what I will probably do.

this is a small pump, and its 1HP 1.7 amp. Just wanted to know if there is something that Im overlooking.

Drop that dime and save yourself some grief. Wo supplied the pump and made the markup on nthe pump should take responsibility for disconns starters and heaters.

This is type of overload I believe that is with it. Im installing this thing, and I just wanted to be sure the heaters are rated correctly for the 1hp 1.7 amp pump. the contactor that was ordered has to have some heaters in stalled. I just dont see anything on the pump that would indicate these heaters. maybe your right, I just should give this to 'designer' to put this in.

Thermal overload units react to 'total' heat, not to the actual current flowing throught them. This means that a heater in a small enclosure will be rated for a different amount of current than it would in a large enclosure.

You need to look at the thermal overload table included with your starter (usually inside of the cover) or go to the correct one in the Square D Digest or on their website. http://www.schneider-electric.us/su...ail&oid=09008926800d8b04&cat=0b0089268017d4a5
