I am a licensed home inspector and was told that a NEC fix to an ungrounded 3-prong outlet is to label it as "Ungrounded". If this is correct, where can I find this information.

I know that a GFCI can be installed and all downstream outlets labeled as ungrounded.

Thanks for this useful forum. - Tom

406.3(D)(3). Thanks for asking. I knew there was a related rule, but it was a good exercise for me to try to find it.

Thank you for the quick reply. However, canthe ungrounded 3-prong outlet just be labeled as ungrounded without the additon of a GFCI?

Tom, I take it that you do you not have a code book? If that is the case go to this link to read the article section Charlie posted.
