Have never come across this and curious as to what others take is on the testing of the 1st part of the installation.
Existing
1. Incoming service feeding service and distribution equipment in existing 15 story apartment building
Current Bid Package(phase 1)
1.. A new 5,000 sq. ft. stand-alone MEP building about 100' away from existing apartment building will be building to house the new service and distribution equipment and new mechanical equipment.
2. Install new incoming utility service to new service gear in new MEP building.
3. Install all new distribution equipment in new MEP building.
4. Install only empty conduit from new MEP building equipment to 5' past MEP building foundation. phase 2 bid( has not not been issued to bid yet) will install feeders/wires from phase 1 equipment in new MEP building to the existing apartment building and intercept apartment risers etc. They will always pick up the conduits and extend to the building.
My questions/concern is testing of our installed work/equipment( if we win the bid).
1. Nothing mentioned in any CD's but I don't see how we could do any testing of our installed equipment, lighting and power circuits installed in the new MEP building if the equipment won't be livened up until the phase 2 contract completes their work and energizes everything. I guess we could put temp load banks on the equipment but I don't see it. I guess I need to check if out new incoming service from the new utility manhole to the new MEP building will be livened up. Just not sure of that would cause any safety issue as the existing utility incoming service( to the extg. building) will be energized at the same time but that is really completely independent of the new.
