anyone know where to find info or purcahase a ups that can be hard wired. Need to supply numerous outlets for studio equipment. Was hoping to wire in at panelboard location then feed cicuits to different areas. Possible? TIA

If the application is a recording/sound studio you want to be really careful about the UPS output waveform- most are "simulated sine-wave" and can have a lot of voltage distortion. If I had hi-dollar audio equipment on it, I'd want the true sine wave output, but that is much more expensive. I like the APS units for computer power backups, and their outputs weren't too bad looking, but some of the cheap ones look a lot like a square wave.

If this is for studio A/V recording, you do not want a UPS to power the recording equipment. What you want is called Balanced Power Systems. One great manufacture I have used a lot of in the past is Equi-Tech at http://www.equitech.com/ These systems fall under artcle 647 120/60 volt power for technical systems.

I have used a lot of this type of design in data centers using dual conversion UPS technology. Be fair warned you get what you pay for on UPS systems. For data or recording studio quality you are talking 6-figures for even a modest sized system of say 10KVA using a quality commercial data center quality dual conversion UPS by the top two manufacures like APC or Powerware.

Failure to use quality UPS and Balanced Power systems in a recording studio is a plan for failure and a whole lot of noise.

The APC unit is probably a good choice. The Smart UPS VT uses Delta conversion technology, only changing a portion of the input to create a clean output. Without a seperate rectifier, their are no harmonic reflections back on your panel like you would see with most double conversion units. Just my two cents:)
