Unspliced GEC on home standby generator

Hey Guys, I'm installing my very first generac generator. It's a 13kw with a 16 circuit ATS. Other electricians who have done this keep mentioning something about the GEC has to be unspliced. So I checked the code book myself and the first thing it says in 250.30(A)(1) is that the system GEC is to be unspliced. The way the code book words it is confusing to me. Am i ok to run GEC from generator to ground rod or do i have to run a unspliced GEC from generator to ground rod and then to meter? thanks in advance.

Is the ATS switching the neutral? If it doesn't, then I don't believe you need a GEC. If it does, then you do.

The GEC must be run unspliced or irreversibly spliced to the grounding electrode system, i.e. to your rod and/or water pipe or whatever you've got there. Leave the meter out of it! See 250.64(C), 250.68 and 260 Part III in general.

99% of the residential generac generators I've seen are not installed as a SDS so, as mentioned, no GEC is required as far as the system is concerned. The generator instructions may call for a ground rod to frame but it will be an auxiliary electrode.

you wouldn’t believe the number of people that miss this important little bit of information.
especially home inspectors, I’ve had them heatedly argue with me about a spliced GEC.
