Unused Conduction in MC cable

If 12-3 w/G MC preassembled cable is being used, and one conduction is not needed. (230VAC no neutral) what should be done with the unused conductor. Removal from the MC is impossible!

Cap it off and call it a spare.

I agree but I usually put a tag on it saying for future use. Never know who might work on the circuit down the road.
