My customer's automatic 200amp electronic automatic generator transfer switch for his residence fried in the last electrical storm. One of the items on the (what I call) transfer switch panel box is his 240v water well branch circuit. Since the water did not work after the electrical storm (because the transfer switch that feeds that panel box is fried) the customer wants to have the ability to move the power source for the water well manually from the tranfer switch panel box to one of the regular panel boxes that isnt fed by the tranfer switch. Can this be done at all, or without having an electrician on the premises at all times afterward to operate the switch? He doesnt want to manually rewire the well if the transfer switch stops functioning again. He wants to transfer the source of power for the water well to one of the regular panel boxes not fed by the transfer switch by using a switch, or a manual transfer switch for one circuit. I suggested replacing his 200amp electronic transfer switch with a manual one, but he didnt like that idea. Sorry for the lack of technical jargon and unknown missing details in advance.

Sounds like an application for a mechanically interlocked selector switch. The mechanical interlock allows the power source for the well to be either commercial power (from a circuit breaker in the regular distribution panel for the house) OR the automatic transfer switch, but never both at the same time.

How about this:

Two female Twist-Lok receptacles, one fed from the main breaker panel, and the other fed from the genny panel/transfer switch. Wire a mating male plug to a short length of SO cable; the other end of the cable ends up in a j-box on the wall. Feed the well pump from the male cord tail. It's a simple power patch panel that's easy to understand and operate. Probably cheaper than a DPDT transfer switch too.
