We are reconfiguring a kitchen that has a closet with a dryer in it.
The range and dryer are three wire circuits.
Does relocation of the appliances require a change to 4 wire?

That's seems like a local call, but I'd be willing to bet that it does. I know it does require replacement with 4-wire in my neck of the woods. I can't do much other than replace a defective receptacle on 3-wire range and dryer circuits without upgrading them to 4-wire. You can't (or rather, shouldn't) extend a circuit that is presently in violation of the current NEC.

Ground wire

Ground wire

I believe that you could just run an additional ground wire to make it code compliant without running a whole new feed for both.

Yeah, but every time I hear that statement, I have to wonder.... why wouldn't you just run a new cable? Sure, it's a cost savings, but for the effort, a new cable could be run too.

Well sure if you can get access to pull the new cable but........if your on a slab or maybe some other reason the added gec is most practical

I think that you meant EGC.
