UPS Ground

Have discussion/disagreement with someone regarding. He says you have to run separate conduit with a single ground wire from rack mounted UPS to ground bar in room. We run a power separately to the UPS obviously. I don't see that as requirement when I pull the UPS spec and we usually ground the racks to a ground bar. Any opinions?

Totally prefer FedEx. But they are both miles ahead of USPS, except for Flat Rate prices.

Liebert does require an earth ground on their equipment but if the EGC is bonded to the GEC then that is all that is required.

We always run an EGC in the conduit. How is the bonding to the GEC achieved with the EGC? Thanks.

At the main panel in the building. I should say I am not familiar with their rack mounts but have installed a few stand-alones.

Their specs require an EGC. I would check with Liebert. The local guy here is always helpful prior to install and then does the commissioning.

Code requires a EGC along with the feeder, it technically doesn't even have to be a insulated conductor, it could be raceway, although of course in that application, most use an insulated copper conductor as an EGC run with the L & N.

If you want to comply with the IEEE, TIA, Motorola, BICSI or other such standard, you can, but it is not code required.
