UPS Submittals

Hello all, second question today. I'm not sure where a question like this should be posted, so figured I'd try it out here.

I am running through UPS submittals for an upcoming building we are building. One of the two UPS systems will save a good amount of money, but we currently have the other already installed in our other headquarters.

Seeing as the two systems are for the most part built with the same parts, does anyone have a pro's and/or con's or preferences between Liebert and Eaton systems?

Thank You for an input.

Generally, a Liebert UPS is not just the hardware, they sell a complete package with long term service, scheduled maintenance and battery replacement after so many years, all paid up front. Consequently Liebert is not who you see on bid jobs through contractors as often, because most bid jobs are basically T&M to meet a spec, so that's when you see people like Eaton who just sell the hardware and maybe the commissioning service with it as outline in that spec. The Liebert sales force goes direct, targeting the facilities managers, IT managers, COOs and the like, selling that complete turnkey "set it and forget it" concept for critical infrastructure. They will give a contractor a price, but that's not really how they go to market, so they make it look high.

These are mid size 30 and 40kW units.

Liebert model - eXM

Eaton model - 93PM

Thanks Jraef - We actually currently have larger Liebert units in our HQ facility already and for the most part haven't let us down. Unfortunately service contracts can be expensive and you are basically forced to get full service contracts to guarantee response times. Also all of the servicing information and parts are proprietary to the Liebert techs which I don't necessarily care for, although I know it protects them.
