Upside Down MCB?

I hope to install a generator interlock kit on an old Sylvania Panel. It is a 200 amp 30-40 installed in 1978. It's in good condition. Cat #ALB2030-40. The problem I see is the main breaker is in the upper section of the panel and is ON in the down position. I have not seen this before and I am wondering if I can get an interlock kit for this setup. All others I have installed had the MCB ON in the up position. I can't tell without taking it apart but it looks the MCB can be unbolted and flipped over so that up is ON. Has anybody run into this issue and come up with a solution?

I don't know about availability of an interlock kit, but I'll hazard a guess that it will not be designed for an upside-down (u-s-d) MCB. In fact, the u-s-d MCB is a violation of 404.7. Sounds like it may have been ordered as a bottom-feed panelboard that got installed u-s-d. In most cases, the MCB can be flipped.

I'm pretty sure I can get an interlock kit if I can flip the MCB. They make them for lots of different panels and this panel seems pretty normal except for the MCB being usd.
