I need some clarification on if I'm able to use a certain type of URD in a residential application, in between the outside 200 amp disconnect and the interior 200 amp electrical service panel. The URD I'm using is USE-2 type XLPE. I received a correction saying that this conductor is not allowed inside a building. The tag cited 338.12
I'm stumped on where to find the insulation properties of XLPE. I don't see it listed in Art 310 with all the other insulations. Any ideas?

XLPE is a type of insulation (cross linked polyethylene), but it can have different characteristics. Just like rubber insulated can be listed as RH, or RHW, you need the specifics of the insulation being used. If all it says is USE and XLPE, then you treat it as USE which cannot be used inside a building. Some USE has multiple insulation ratings, such as RHW. If it was listed as USE / RHW, you could use it inside.
