We are a small electrical company in New Zealand about to begin manufacturing an electrical control system for a waste-water treatment system to be exported to the US. Are there any internet resources we can refer to for the necessary wiring codes and practices we should be adhering to?

Hello Hammond: New Zealand is one of the best places in the world. I was in Christchurch in 1980. It was on the way to the ice of the South Pole.

I am sure you are aware of the many differences in electrical systems in New Zealand and the US.

I have great respect for the quality of workmanship performed by your countrymen.

If I were younger and in better health, I would be there in a heartbeat to help you out.

Ask specific questions about areas of curiosity, there is many on this forum who can answer them.

Good luck: Bennie

Your best resource would be UL. You'll want to build your control panels to UL 508, Industrial Motor Control Standard. You can also use ETL or other testing labs to list products to the UL508 standard. The UL web site has a lot of good information to get you started.

Hammondnz:

Here are a few links into the UL (Underwriter Laboratories) website, specifically the 508 Standard section referenced by Tom:

UL 508 Home There is a lot of information here. Browse through the various sections listed on the right-hand side of the Home Page screen where you can find overviews of the 30 or so different catagories of products covered by this standard.

Then another link on ordering Standards:
